Ancestor Bones

Standard

A wayward bough whipped round

To swat it from the ground

And land around the roots of trees

Amongst the leaves and sodden earth

To meet our stones, ancestral bones

Inheritance at birth

It groaned aloud

And turned to weep in shame

For it had trod haphazardly

On hallowed space

So holy that to its’ disgrace

With arrogance and pride had stalked

Without a thought for us or any thing

Named God
