Slick Remedies We Seek

Standard

Slick remedies we seek

In shame of weakness

At the trembling knee

Of helplessness is felt

That bleeds the strength

From bones that quake

In fear and crumble into age

We lose our blood

So very vital it escapes

Through breaks in skin

That tears too easily

These eyes that rain

In pain and bowels

That give away, they do

In confrontations face

We do not need

A remedy for shame

Of helplessness

In deed we need

To stop to heed

To drink in deep humility

With forehead

Bound to ground

Kneeling

At the feet of it

The very Holy feet

Of our humanity

In need of us.
