The Sums of Yesteryear

Standard

Was there a word
That never should be said or heard
A thought that ought
Be shunned and can we ‘un’
The things we done?

The cavalcade of what we made
The songs we sung
Have been and gone
But still exist
In history and memory
Foundation stones are real
Of what we laid we feel
To step across to now
We can not shed nor shun
The sums of yesteryear
Are right in here
With us created
Should we fear
What we so nearly
Could become
Again
